Today I want to share with you two of my favorite green smoothie recipes. I decided to include them in one post because they are both green and both very nutritious. I find it the easiest to get those greens that our body needs through a nice morning smoothie. It’s quick, easy to digest and we get a good amount of greens with all the nutrients and fiber. I include either kale or spinach in my green smoothie recipes as they are very high in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and anti-oxidants. Fresh Tropical Kiwi and Kale Smoothie
I came up with this green smoothie recipe when I really wanted to have a fresh, citrusy, sort of tropical vibe (as far as it’s possible in winter in Europe) in my smoothie. But I always like it creamy, that’s why apart from kale, kiwi, a slice of lemon and a green apple, I added a half of avocado. If you like it very creamy, feel free to add the whole avocado! This combination works really well and fills you up a lot! For even more Omega-3 I also added some hemp seeds. This green smoothie recipe is definitely not very sweet, the taste is very balanced between sweet and sour. I never add maple syrup, dates or any other sweeteners in my smoothie as I find the fruit sweetness is already enough! Last, but not least there is half a glass of celery juice in this green smoothie, which is totally optional. But I actually had too little celery for the whole celery juice glass, that is why I decided to add the half of it in my smoothie instead. If you are looking for a nutritious green smoothie, which isn’t too sweet and super fresh, this one is for you!
Creamy Spinach, Avocado, and Pear Smoothie
This green smoothie recipe is also very nutritious, thick, creamy and filling. I put the whole soft ripe avocado in there to get the high creaminess level! To balance the creaminess I also add the refreshing, hydrating cucumber, which is so healthy and definitely great not only for salads but for smoothies as well. For the sweet part, we’re adding pears, they are incredibly soft, mildly sweet and work perfectly in this recipe. I also add a fresh celery rib here for extra nutrients and hydration. Feel free to add your supplements, if you are taking any into your smoothie. I added a barley leaf powder here. but spirulina, chlorella or kelp could also easily go in! This green smoothie recipe is for you if you enjoy thick, creamy and mildly sweet smoothies.
